THINK EQUAL has devised, together with input from its eminent committee of advisors and experts, a Curriculum Framework and 4 Levels of a tangible, detailed global education programme for the Early Years.
From January 2017, 147 schools across 15 countries started piloting the Level 1 THINK EQUAL Programme. The pilot programmes in 7 of these countries (Argentina, Botswana, Canada, Kenya, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka) are being evaluated by our partners at the Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence.
From the beginning of 2018, the schools which started piloting the Level 1 THINK EQUAL Programme in 2017, have started piloting our Level 2 programme.
We are in the process of completing our commission of illustrated narrative books which are the basis of the 30-week programme, from children’s writers and illustrators from around the world. 60 out of 120 books have been completed thus far.
We have been graced by the generous partnerships and support of Brooks Foundation, Pratibha Sharma (GMSP), the Shiva Foundation, the Ford Foundation, The Rumi Foundatiopn, the Bagri Foundation, Open Society Foundation, UBS Optimus, and some generous individuals who prefer to remain anonymous. Without these incredible partners, we could not have achieved so much in so little time.
THINK EQUAL has partnered with digital partners in order to ensure that digital content is created to train and inspire teachers and to enable the curriculum to be disseminated globally in the most productive ways possible, beyond the classroom walls. NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) is our Digital Partner. VIVO has partnered with us, and is providing its e-system for the programme.
THINK EQUAL has created partnerships with Montessori, Tales Toolkit, Children in Harmony, Healthy Minds / Kindness Curriculum (check) Yale University’s Center of Emotional Intelligence, and others.
THINK EQUAL has secured national commitments to participate in the program from 2018, in adapting the global programme to cultural specifics and language/s and rolling out the THINK EQUAL on a compulsory basis from the first day of entry of their children in school. SL has mandated this as policy (August 2017), Botswana is working with us to rollout to all reception classes in 2018. Kenya is planning to include TE in a national pilot rollout, and we are in talks with the Ed Min of Argentina to rollout over 2018 / 2019.
Evaluation has been ongoing since January 2017, led by our partners at the Yale Centre for Emotional Intelligence (Craig Bailey, Director of M&E), and results will be available from May 2018.
We have filmed 30 lessons of our THINK EQUAL Programme being taught by teachers among our Committee of Advisors, and other carefully chosen educators who have expertise in mediating social emotional learning. The resulting digital videos act as a teaching guide for teachers of the programme.
