Seeking Asylum and the Law

After the Second World War and the Holocaust, international courts and institutions were established.  These were designed to set down universal laws that could not be broken by nations with leaders who abused their power. 

In 1948 the Declaration of Human Rights was established by the United Nations.

“Everyone has the right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution.”
