Activity 7: 'Us' and 'Them'


The purpose of this racial categorisation is to create a society of THEM and US. 

In Nazi Germany ‘WE’ are the supposedly pure Aryans and ‘THEY’ are everyone else. 

Splitting society like this into simplistic sections is the 1st STEP TO TYRANNY

  • Do you see these racial splits being created anywhere in our society today?

  • Do you hear people talk about ‘them’ and ‘us’?
  • If you answered yes to the question above, who is 'them' and who is 'us'?
  • Do you feel part of an ‘us’ or a ‘them’? 
  • What qualities does your group have?  What are 'we' like?
  • What qualities do the other groups have?  What are 'they' like?
  • Are you always in the same one group?
  • In what ways do we stereotype each other when we talk about ‘us’ and ‘them’?

  • Do you think having a ‘soul’ is a shared human experience?
  • Do you think there are such things as good souls and bad souls?
