Activity 7: Making Choices

“…indifference, far from being innocent and innocuous, is a definite choice that we make and an active player on the stage of human history”

(Ronnie Landau - Historian)

As citizens in a democratic society, we frequently have to make choices about how to respond to events.  When making these choices, we should always consider the consequences of our actions.

In pairs or small groups, consider the following modern-day situations.  What could you do?

When you arrive at school you see a younger student who you don’t know being bullied by two students in your year group.

While you are out shopping you see a man trying to steal an old woman’s handbag in a quiet alleyway.

The town council have just announced that they will be building houses on the site of the local recreation ground which is used by many local people.
